  • How much does it cost to have our safe or vault moved?

An assessment will be required to determine the cost of moving safes or vaults. Each move has its own set of circumstances that determine the manpower, time, and equipment that will be needed.

  • What can you move?

We can move safes of all kinds including gun safes, home safes, jewelry safes, burglary safes, and fire safes.

  • How do we get ready for our safe to be moved?

There are a few things you can do to get your safes ready for your move:

    1. Remove everything from your safe before we get there. Removing your valuables will keep them from being damaged during the move.
    2. Clear a pathway that is wider than the safe, all the way from the door to the safe. That includes removing any furniture, rugs, or furnishings in the direct pathway. We need room to safely move equipment around without getting hurt or damaging your home.
    3. Measure each doorway and the safe to make sure it will fit. Don't forget about the handles.
    4. Prepare a spot for the safe at the new location.
    5. Measure the new location for the safe to make sure we can actually move it to that location.
    6. Let us know of any staircases or landings, as we may need you to measure and take photos for us in advance.
    7. Keep in mind we need room for our stair machines, your safe, and ourselves.
    8. Please decide on a backup location on the first floor in case we run into any barriers.
  • What makes a safe a fire safe?

Safes can be classified as a fire safe as soon as they pass a test designed to rate a safe's ability to last through a fire and keep an internal temperature of less than 350°. Manufacturers will use a variety of materials to create the insulation needed to maintain that temperature. A common misconception is that the safe will be totally burnt to the ground at the end of the rating. However, when you see a 30-minute rating that means the interior of the safe stayed less than 350° up until 30 minutes. Talk to the experts at DFW Gun Safes & Delivery to learn more about this rating and how to get a fire safe for your home.

  • Can an electronic lock be installed in an existing safe?

Most mechanical locks can be swapped out with an electronic lock. According to Gun Policy in America, approximately 37% of gun owners keep their firearms locked and unloaded. An electronic lock makes it simple to access your gun should the need ever arise. To verify if your safe can have an electronic lock installed, simply give DFW Gun Safes & Delivery a call. People have relied on us for gun safes and lock-swapping services for over three decades!

  • Can a gun safe be secured to the floor/ground?

Securing safes to the ground is a simple process. The proper bolts for anchoring to wood or concrete can be purchased through our company. We highly recommend securing your safe to the floor for safety and warranty purposes. DFW Gun Safes & Delivery is a specialist in safe moves and installations. Call us today to learn more about our services!

  • What's a "scratch and dent" special?

These are safes that have cosmetic damage and are offered at a discount. Cosmetic damage doesn't affect the operation or security of the safe. Please call DFW Gun Safes & Delivery to check availability and to learn more about the prices associated with them. We also offer used safes for sale.

  • What's a fire rating and a burglar rating?

A safe with a fire rating will maintain an inside temperature that doesn't exceed a certain level for a certain period of time. For example, a UL Class 350 1 Hour rated safe will maintain an internal temperature that will not exceed 350° F for up to 60 minutes. Call DFW Gun Safes & Delivery to learn more about purchasing one with a rating that's right for you!

Burglar ratings are a mix of manufacturer standards and Underwriters Laboratory burglar ratings. A general guideline for the type of safes versus the content value is available. It would be best to ask your insurance agent or broker to contact Underwriters Laboratory for additional recommendations on content value storage.

  • How big of a safe do I need?

The size of the safe you'll need depends on what is going to be stored inside. Big gun safes obviously offer a premium in interior space, but they're heavy and are harder to conceal. Smaller ones can be more easily hidden.

It's also worth considering where the dollars should be spent. Bigger models are more expensive and better-fortified ones are even more so. Buyers get what they pay for.

Although security is still a concern, space tends to be the bigger issue because firearms are larger than most people believe. A common mistake that gun collectors make is buying a gun safe that's too small. Always go a bit bigger than needed, because that space will eventually be taken up. DFW Gun Safes & Delivery's motto is, "Bigger safe than sorry!"
